PUMPKIN CHUCKIN’ HARVEST FEST.
RULES:
1. Machine will be no bigger than will fit on a trailer
2. Homemade designs, pre-approved by pit boss. Sketches are fine. Send to Craig@palaiavineyards.com or mail to the winery. Palaia Vineyards, 10 Sweet Clover Road, Highland Mills, NY 10930
3. Limited to 8 teams
4. Must be inspected prior to contest by pitt boss for safety.
5. Bring your own pumpkins – 10-12 lbs only. Pumpkins may be marked with the team name with a sharpie marker, but not altered in any other way. Natural pumpkins only. No coating them in any way. Must be inspected and weighed before launch by pitt boss. (hint- white “Lumina” pumpkins hold up the best)
6. 3 shots per team
7. Pumpkins must remain intact until landing to qualify. One extra re-do shot is given for one “pie” pumpkin that launches by mistake per team. (pie pumpkins are those that blow apart in the air after launching)
8. Air horn will be blown before launch and area cleared except for launcher.
9. Spotters in field will mark landings
10. No accelerants, compressed air, explosives or cannons may be used. This is a mechanical competition only.
11. Teams may set up in field 2 days before the competition. Arranged with the winery in advance, or the day of the event no later than noon for a 3:00 start time. You may fire 2 test shots.
12. Each team must sign a liability waiver when entering. Must be 21 or over to participate.
13. Prizes: each team that participates will receive a certificate with distance achieved, and a bottle of wine of their choice. The winner will have their name engraved on the trophy that is kept in the tasting room, and will have their photo on the face page of the website, as well as on the wall in the sweet clover room. In addition, the winner will receive a certificate for a full case of wine of their choice, valued at over $200.
14. Part time Employees of Palaia Winery are eligible to enter the competition since this is a skill not related to their being employed here. The winner is chosen by distance achieved, and anyone over 21 is welcome to try their luck and skill. |
